Bénédicte Vallet

A cosmonaut. This is perhaps the best way to describe Bénédicte Vallet, a tireless navigator in the borderless world of art who likes to immerse herself in Greek etymology.

Her ‘ceramic textiles’ open up the possibilities of these primary materials at the heart of two ancestral crafts.

From research into textures to experiments in assembly, punctuated by the rituals of the humble daily gestures of harvesting, modelling and weaving, strange protean sculptures have emerged under her fingers, all at once visual, tactile and sonorous, creating a unique style combining articulation and accumulation.

Bénédicte Vallet loves to shape and weave worlds. Inhabited by the quest for origins, for times when humans and nature coexisted in harmony, she deploys a whole archaeology of the imaginary, accumulating elements like so many poems, offerings and utopias.
