« Air France Boardroom » armchair - Jacques Adnet

This chair, entitled « Air France Boardroom », is attributed to Jacques Adnet. The seat shell is made of wood. Filled with foam, it is covered with a cream-coloured fabric. It rests on a central arrow-shaped chrome metal base.

This chair was privately commissioned by the President of Air France in 1958. It marks Jacques Adnet's stylistic transition point.

Jacques Adnet was born in 1900 in France. He is one of the first designers to integrate glass and metal into his work. He studied at the Municipal School of Design in Auxerre and then joined the School of Decorative Arts in Paris. He then directed the « Compagnie des Arts Français » (1928-1960), the « Salon des Artistes Décorateurs » (1947-1949) and also the « École nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs » (1959-1970).
