Big blue planet - Ingrid Van Munster

Ingrid Van Munster's creations are made of porcelain sandstone. The artist explains that she deforms her works during the drying phase by « seeking an attitude, an emotion, an evocation… » in her words. The colourisation phase consists in covering her pieces with enamel, after a first firing at 1000°C. She manufactures her own matt and satin enamels, in a concern for texture and colour, which she manages to merge together on her dishes, annealed at 1300°C in a gas oven. According to her words, the enamels « complete the work on shapes, accentuating or softening the deformations ».

Through these works, Ingrid Van Munster manages to emancipate herself from the symmetry imposed by our society that demands a form of perfection. It is thanks to this irregular treatment of form that the artist manages to seduce us.
